Re-post. June, 2011. Two Days In June. Anykščiai-Biržai-Rokiškis

So on 25th June the three of us from the original 'cast of 4 to 5' set off for our Aukštaitija tour. Originally the whole trip was planned for three days, so that there would be some places of interest to visit on each day, but we could still maintain this rather leisurous pace. Huh-uh, due to some force majeur factors we only departed at almost midday on Saturday, but still very determined to make only the very necessary changes to the route.

Interesting note: distances are apprehended differently by different people living in different places. In Biržai we've asked couple of locals where could we find some bar or cafe to eat, and afterwards we also needed directions how to get to that pedestrian bridge over the lake. Both times we received an answer of 'oh, that's rather far, you should drive over there', while it turns out it wasn't THAT far at all.
Day 1 was very intense, and by the time we've reached our campsite I was quite beat from all this driving. But that still was one hell of a trip, and I'd gladly do this over again. Only next time another driver would be a really welcome addition to my crew ;)

  3. Lithuanians have a very obvious love for wood and the way it's crafted. I love this!

  5. just come when it's summer or at least some warm season to get the most, when you finally do come. Winter is fine and can be beautiful too, as Tat'd seen for herself, but one can get the most when everything is bloom/green mode

  15. chi chi, o tai ką daryt, kai turi pilna šašlo bagažinėj, kuris visą dieną atsivežiotas? pasirinkimas buvo kept, kol dar nesugedo arba mest. o man gero maisto mest ranka nekyla. juolab, kad mano mini šaltkrepšis iki ryto jau būtų neištempęs. vakare, kai kepėmės buvo pats tas - paskutinis ledas dar tirpo jame, o vat rytą ant saulutės šašlas būtų ir atia atia padaręs :)
